It is what all the cool memes are doing nowadays!

The only rule is, don't be a total passive-aggressive douche. This isn't the place to spew all your vitriolic unrequited blackrom feelings for other members of of our dear fandom--or if you can't resist, at least don't mention them by name, that shit is just a little too petty. If it gets out of hand I'll ban you so fast Karkat would be impressed.

Why is this so terrible? LE is a villain, him enslaving women isn't exactly the same as the author saying "women shouldn't be allowed to do what they want", and snowman is just as much a slave to her desire to oppose creation as Jack is, Jack just lucked out and can do it more directly.

The LE thing gets to me not exactly in terms of Homestuck itself, but in terms of many, many other stories. If Lord English happens to use and abuse many women in his plans then I would've been like 'Oh hey, there's a lot of women working for this guy in this iteration of his universe-eating plans. OK'. (I hadn't actually realised he mostly worked through women until now.) For Hussie to make out that it's more like LE's a multiverse death pimp who specifically targets women brings up echoes of nasty, tired old cliches, about women ultimately being fit mostly to serve men, women are victims, a villainous man is so much more villainous when he's hurting women, etc.

I'm not saying this is what Hussie intends to convey, or that Homestuck doesn't do a lot of great things with female characters, or that the women in Lord English's plan are now worth less - just that this reveal plays into cultural context in a gross way.

Saying it's extra bad to do things to women is actually a gross statement in itself. It's just reinforcing women as inherently weaker and more easily victimized, especially when the ones being singled out this time are ones that should be powerful.
